Bay Imaging was formed in Redwood City, California in 1991 to do its part for “saving the environment” long before it was the right and known thing to do. Seeing the processes used to manufacture toner cartridges and the chain-like effect caused by the improper disposal of used cartridges motivated our company’s founder to start one of the country’s first toner cartridge remanufacturing businesses. The result was not only high quality remanufactured toner cartridges – the backbone of the printing industry – but a savings to our customers of up to 30% to 40% on toner cartridges.

More than 500 million OEM toner and inkjet cartridges are manufactured every year. If not disposed of properly, and instead added to our landfills, these same cartridges add almost 1,000 tons of unnecessary pollution that can enter our waste stream every day. As if this potential waste were not bad enough, each one of these 500 million cartridges requires 3 quarts of oil during the manufacturing process – that’s more than 375,000,000 gallons of oil a year!

As customers contracted with us for toner cartridges, we saw the need for high quality customer repair service, as well. Soon, we added our printer repair service – positioning Bay Imaging as the go-to source for hassle free ownership and use of printers and printer fleets.

Underpinning all of our early work was our commitment to quality customer service. We are still committed to that principle – now more than ever, actually – especially in this day and age of call service centers, voice mail boxes, recorded messages (“Press 1 to continue in English, Press 2 for directions…”).
